Wellness Day for George and Garden Route District Municipalities huge success

George Municipality and Garden Route District Municipality hosted their growing annual Wellness day on Thursday, 11 April 2019 in the Civic Centre, which was a huge success.

For the first time in George Municipal Wellness history, three internal sections of Community Services presented their stalls in their different and expert fields.  Social Development Services (HIV/AIDS office), Library Services and Traffic Services showcased their expertise and attracted a lot of interested personnel.

George Municipality is committed to the wellbeing of their employees.  The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a work-based designed programme to assist in the identification and resolution of productivity problems which may affect employee job performance. It is a programme which has the aim of improving the quality of life of all its employees.

The Wellness day gives the employees the opportunity to visit different stakeholders under one roof to gain all sorts of information and awareness where available. Twenty seven stalls from different external business participants were present at the Wellness Day. The businesses included banks, insurance companies, gyms, medical aid schemes, mental and spiritual health practitioners, the department of Health, SANCA and CANSA .The Service Providers were well prepared to assist all employees.

The event was opened by Ms Jenny Kiewit, the Manager EAP/Occupational Health and Safety, training and development. She also welcomed the Service Providers and the employees who attended the event.  The Wellness Speech was delivered by Cllr Raybin-Gibb Figland on behalf of both George Municipality and Garden Route District Municipality.
